Finished Story and Next Steps

Hello Everyone!

Just as the title suggest I have some great news to share. But before I delve into that, if you want to check out the things I've been upto the past few days do check out my personal blog here:
https://taranabegum.wordpress.com/2019/08/22/friendaversary,-birthday-and-more!/ As you can see by the title, I've got a lot to share! Anyways, let's get back to my writing.

As you all know I've been working on my next story after the publishing of my first ever piece called Finding Your Way, in a compendium called Tales of The Forgotten World (You can buy your copy on Amazon!). As I've mentioned in my previous blog post, I've made the aim to finish it by my birthday which recently past (20th Aug) and although I wasn't able to complete it that day, I did actually manage to complete the whole book the next day (technically it was 22nd Aug at 12:30am) but I think I would say that I've done most of it if not practically all of it on the 21st.

Speaking of my birthday, here is a nice picture of Aston encouraging me to finish my book he had to sit exactly on my work and of course he loved it too!

I've felt a sense of relief from completing the book and now I can take my time with editing its contents. Today, I felt so relaxed and chilled because I've finished writing my next book. I feel a sense of achievement from it and I know it's not officially complete (because I do have to edit it still) having done the main part, which is to write the whole story helps with the next stages.

Speaking of the next stages, I am planning on looking for a literary agent in the meantime and also start the editing process soon. As many writers would know, your work is never finished until the final draft. Editing is a huge part of it and I'm hoping to look at my work with fresh eyes so that I can produce my work more effectively.

Now, a literary agent. This is something that I know is also an obstacle and I know it may not be a win with the first try. But I'm not giving up and also I am prepared for any rejections, as this is the process of writing and how things go. I'm a little stuck with how to approach it, but I think I could try out a few things and see how it goes.

The things I'm planning to try, are looking for online submissions, making sure that I look at things very carefully and I hope that I could find a good deal. The other options would be to find local publishing houses (that except directly from the author without an agent) and see how that goes as there are many options. The latter may be a little more difficult as most publishing houses don't accept unsolicited manuscripts but there are a few out there. Also, I can try out these options as a mix and not just in order. I'm just going to have to do more research on how to approach a literary agent and so on.

I think a nice way to end this would be to at least give you all the genre of my book, I think it will be science fiction, also I'm not too sure about the science part at this stage. It's definitely a fictional work as I'm more into that side of genres. I thought it would be nice to add a little picture here of when I've finished the book:

It also has the technicality in brackets

I think after I am in a better position with the book, I'll make a start on my fantasy story again! I've been coming up with so many ideas for it but I was just not able to do anything about it because of this book. However, I have made a note of these ideas and if along the way I get more I'll incorporate it!

Well that's it for my writing endeavors and I hope to catch you all in my next post,

Take care and think positive,
