It was a quiet Sunday, and John was
feeling rather tired from a long hard day of doing… absolutely nothing. It's
exhausting not doing anything, especially for John who tends to over work
himself. Speaking of work, John was forced to go on holiday with his
colleagues, well, his research team from the University; they all had been
working on multiple devices and technical products, in hopes of one day
creating a device, that would take them to any place they would like to go. His
mind was swirling with ideas for his next project, but he was told not to pick
one tool or he would be suspended; So he was trying his best to relax and enjoy
the summer breeze coming from his bedroom window.
John decided to walk to his porch,
before him a sandy beach. “Perfect!” John thought. He sat down on the swing he
had by the door and in a few moments he began to drift off to sleep. He
woke up when he heard his name being called: “John.” He looked around, but he
couldn’t see anyone. “John.” He heard once more.
John got up from the swing and tried to
look around, but the sun was too strong and it hurt his eyes. He then covered
his face a bit with his hands in order to block out the sun as much as possible
from stinging his eyes, while he tried, once more, to look around. John then saw what seemed to be a figure of a
woman, walking towards him.
This was strange. “How can someone appear out of nowhere?” he thought
out loud. John was now feeling a strong urge in the pit of his stomach, a
yearning for this woman, a woman which he never met before, but now he wanted
to reach out and hold her in his arms. The woman then, suddenly vanished. He
blinked several times, thinking that it may actually be his tired eyes playing
tricks on him. He rubbed them and looked in front of him to see Greg, one of
his colleagues, staring at him at a close range.
“Jheeze!” John yelped with a startle reaction. “Couldn’t you have
given me a warning or something? Having you appearing out of nowhere, I really
thought, for a moment, you were this beautiful woman…” Greg laughed.
“I’m offended that you don’t think of me as beautiful.” Greg said with
a small teasing pout. John looked at him with a look of ‘In your dreams buddy’.
“You know what I mean.” John said as he started to get up and head back
into the hotel room. Greg followed him.
“No, I really don’t.” Greg replied with a big fat grin.
Greg was the jokester of the team. He was the one that would make
people laugh, smile and even cheer them up, just by a few words. He is that
sort of person, after all. John adored Greg for his humour and character. He
was indeed a very witty person. The thought of Greg getting along with Liam,
his complete opposite, was beyond John’s mind. The two get along so well that
they seem inseparable. Even John couldn’t get in the way of their friendship,
and he didn’t want to either.
“Guys!” Liam said appearing suddenly behind them. They stopped walking
towards the hotel room and turned around to look at him.
“Wow, what happened to you?” John said looking at Liam who seemed he
was going to burst any moment, because of how red his face looked. Liam was
bent with his hands over his knees, trying to catch his breath. He was
breathing heavily. Greg tossed him a bottle of water.
“Thanks.” Liam said after drinking half of it.
“Now, are you going to tell us…?” John started.
“You guys will not believe what I just saw!” Liam said.
John and Greg exchanged a look.
“Why don’t you show us?” John suggested.
Liam took them to a secluded area of the beach, not too far from
their hotel room.
“Wow! Is this for real?” Greg said with his eyes widened and his jaw
nearly dropping.
“How’s this possible?” John said, a surprised look on his face.
A few moments later, the three of them, were back in their hotel
room. In the middle of the room, they were staring at this device that was now
placed on the floor, in front of them.
“This is exactly like I imagined it to be!” John said.
